Besam’s “Green Door” für den Handel
An independent research study is helping Besam Netherlands reach Dutch shop owners who might otherwise be hesitant to install automatic doors in their storefronts.
The study set out to challenge the “open-door philosophy” typical of many Dutch shop owners, in which the assumption is that shops with doors that stand open all the time appear more inviting and therefore attract more customers. This practice is particularly costly in the winter months due to the amount of energy needed to maintain a comfortable temperature inside the shop.

The 9-month was study conducted at the Amsterdam branch of a large Dutch pharmacy chain. Both energy use and customer counts were monitored before and after the installation of Besam Holland’s “Green Door” solution consisting of a telescopic sliding door and an air curtain.
To no one’s surprise, energy savings were significant; the cost of heating the shop was reduced by 43%. But equally important for the shop owners was the fact that there was virtually no decrease in the number of customers entering the store after the installation of the automatic sliding door.
Besam Holland can now use the results to show Dutch retailers that a Besam “Green Door” solution can help them reduce their energy consumption and offer their customers a welcoming entrance at the same time.
